The most common question we are asked each year about Art, Theatre and Animation camp is: What is the show for the year? The next question is: What are we going to make?
Hopefully by now you have seen our flyer and know that the theme is Circus, Circus!
And as to the art? Well, campers will be doing:
a watercolor resist animal painting.
a fluorescent animal painting on black paper
a torn paper elephant collage
a clay animal
and a self portrait! (This self portrait was done when this little girl was in 4th grade and now she is getting ready to start high school!)
We are really excited to focus on painting, drawing and clay this year. It’s so much fun to watch our campers grow up through our program and become active participants in our art and theatre programs in high school! These veterans work as camp volunteers and help shepherd campers throughout the day.
When we started this summer camp program one of our goals was to teach campers about making “real” art. We don’t believe in having campers merely color pictures and put together packaged crafts!
For our 2018 camp, the art projects will be focused on modern art and campers will learn about creating poured paintings and sculptures that move. We will also be screen printing as is our tradition and we have a few more projects planned!
